Four years after one of the most difficult seasons of our lives, our family returned to Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
This wasn’t a return for treatment. It was a return for healing.
Mayo Clinic became a part of our family’s story during Diamond’s battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), where she underwent a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Walking back through those halls brought back many memories—both painful and beautiful.
During our visit, we had the opportunity to reconnect with Dr. Palmer’s office, and Diamond’s nurse took time to speak with us. Seeing familiar faces reminded us that while our journey changed forever, the compassion and care shown to our family will never be forgotten.
This visit gave us a sense of peace and renewed our commitment to the mission of the Oils from the Ashes Foundation: to encourage, support, and walk alongside individuals and families facing cancer.
We believe healing doesn’t mean forgetting. Healing means finding purpose through the pain.
Every family facing cancer deserves hope, encouragement, and to know they are not alone. Returning to Mayo reminded us why this foundation exists—to honor Diamond’s legacy by serving others with compassion, love, and support.
